The oxygen is working

We've been in the tank for 7 hours so far. I can see that the oxygen is working. Valen's attention span is increasing and his ability to look from one person to another without prompting is becoming more refined (tracking). He is doing well. The hardest part is trying to get some sleep at night as the oxygen causes his teeth to come in more quickly. I don't know why but without fail we have teething issues every time we come. The first time he cut 8 teeth in three weeks. No joke. Two nights ago, I was able to get him to repeat "ba"- 5 times in a row upon my request. He actually said it more like "aabaa", but you can imagine my delight. Communication is so essential and I feel like we are making progress there. I tried to get him to say it again last night but he wasn't in to it. I think he's teeth were hurting so I asked him to say "ow" if his teeth were hurting and he was very obviously trying to make the sound. The motor part of speaking is where we're getting hung up, but he was making sounds along with me and he felt much better after i put some orajel in his mouth. So far, so good. Be back with more updates soon.

Our first blog entry

We are gearing up for our next round of Hperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). We leave on Sunday July, 23rd and will be gone until August 4th. The month of August is chalked full of therapy. We will be traveling to the city to see Marcy Lindheimer (Feldenkrais) in conjunction with our full time regime of home based therapies. Then, around the first week of September we'll travel back to PA for the second half of the HBOT. While we're there we stay at the Super 8 in E. Stroudsburg. It's about 2 1/2 hours from our home in the Catskills so we have to get cozy. The therapy is twice a day for an hour per session so we have a lot of time to kill. I'll post more updates about what I'm seeing during the HBOT and some pictures as well.
